I downloaded a sample copy of The Wanderer (Guardian/Wanderer series #1) by Pipp Dee. I was taken in by the story and characters immediatly, so I purchased it. I read it in one day, i couldn't leave it down. It is really well written and keeps the reader in suspence about the story and outcome. It also left me wanting more, cant wait for more of the The Wanderer in August 2012. The price is great too!Product details

Looking for a great way to get your 9-15 year olds to read? Hand them a book with characters around their age doing the same ordinary things they do and then have something extraordinary happen to those characters. They'll love to go along for the ride and see what happens next! This book has an original plot with likeable characters and as the first in a series of 3, I'll be interested to see where the Author takes them!

Fourteen-year-olds Sasha, Andy, and Justine become entangled with an ancient curse, and must race against time to save each other from the deadly virus.
This fast-paced middle-grade futuristic urban fantasy adventure should appeal to junior high students with its blend of technology, the paranormal, and warriors. It's also a tale of forging friendships and fighting for one's tribe. And for young teacher Ms Brown, it's about turning a curse into a gift, and mentoring the new generation of Others.
THE WANDERER is just plain clever. An electronic virus causing a physiological virus? Genius! That's what gives the novel its futuristic edge, though more of the future in the world-building would've been appreciated.
Sasha and Andy have been friends for ever - they spend all their school time and spare time together and share everything. Justine has just arrived in town and she is finding it tough to make friends in the small country town where everyone has known each other for ever. The three fourteen-year-olds are drawn together when the wanderer arrives to destroy all that they love.
Sasha opens an email attachment and is infected by the Wanderer who has just escaped from his prison of a thousand years. His sole goal is to spread a deathly sickness - but this is not the first time a wanderer has caused havoc. Justine and Andy have to look to the past to save the future.
After a bit of a confusing start I was quickly sucked into this incredibly fast paced story. Everything got put to one side as I flipped my virtual pages to see what was going to happen next, how on earth the story was going to be resolved. The first in a proposed series, The Wanderer was a great debut for Pippa Dee and aimed at teens from 13 to 15 - and those of us who wished we still were! Although at the end there is an opening that you know is the link to the next book, overall the ending is complete with no loose ends.
Disclaimer - I was given a copy of this book for review - and I made no promise that it would be favorable. Mind you that did not become a problem as the book is great and I can't wait until the release of the second in the series later this year.
An Australian author, Pippa Dee has written five fantastic crime fiction books featuring Sophie Anderson - an FBI profiler - under the name of PD Martin
Loved the concept and the interplay of modern technologies with traditional mystery and teen interest stuff. Will be looking forward to the next in this series as it will be interesting to see how it all comes together. The main characters are genuinely likeable and the teens reading it on a kindle/iPad will love the eeriness it brings.
